Barley Soup, Sally Style
                      Why I Love This Recipe
I just came across this recipe (in my pile of recipes). It's in my husbands mom's writing. She passed away before I met my husband. It's always a treasure to find one of her recipes.
Ingredients You'll Need
                                     3/4 cup Pearl Barley soaked 12 hrs in cold water
                    
                                     1 1/2 lbs lean stew meat
                    
                                     1 1/2 cups chopped onion
                    
                                     1 cup diced or sliced carrots
                    
                                     1 cup diced turnips
                    
                                     2 quarts boiling water
                    
                                     1 tablespoon salt
                    
                                     1 pkg frozen corn
                    
                                     1 can of tomatoes cut up
                    
                               
Directions
Wash and drain barley
Combine all ingredients (except corn) in kettle.
Cover with tight lid for 3 hours, stirring occasionally
Add corn, boil 10 minutes.
