Brown Sugar Bacon
Why I Love This Recipe
Ingredients You'll Need
8 strips thick-cut bacon, about 3/4 lb total weight
3 tablespoons firmly packed light brown sugar
Directions
Preheat a broiler. Line the bottom of a slotted broiler pan with aluminum foil.
On a sheet of waxed paper or foil, arrange the bacon strips side by side. Press the brown sugar through a sieve with the back of a spoon, letting it shower over the bacon strips and distributing it as evenly as possible. Rub a fingertip over each strip to smooth out the sugar and press it into the bacon.
Transfer the strips to the slotted top of the broiler pan, twisting each strip several times to form a corkscrew as you lay it down. The strips can be close together but should not touch. Broil (grill) 6 inches below the heat until the edges are browned and crisp, 5-7 minutes; watch carefully at the sugar can burn. Turn and broil on the second side until crisp, 2-3 minutes longer. Transfer to paper towels to drain. Serve warm.
