Dolly's Oatmeal Cake

Why I Love This Recipe
My Mom was the baker in our family. She will be turning 100 on Sept.19th. She no longer bakes but inspires us all.
Ingredients You'll Need
1 ½ Cups Flour
1 Cup Granulated White Sugar
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 Cup Brown Sugar (Dark or Light)
½ tsp salt
2 Large or Extra Large Eggs
1 Cup Uncooked Instant Oatmeal
1 tsp Pure Vanilla
1 ¼ Boiling Water
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 Stick Butter (1/4 lb)
Broiled Frosting (Danger!!!!)
4 Tbsp Butter Melted
½ Cup Brown Sugar
3 Tbsp Rum / you could use cream
Mix, pour over baked cake BROIL A FEW MINUTES WATCH IT CAREFULLY.
Directions
Pour boiling water on oatmeal cover, let stand 20 minutes
Sift dry ingredients together
In a mixer bend butter and sugars, add vanilla, and add eggs one at a time.
Add oatmeal mix well.
Add flour divided in thirds.
Grease pan 9 X 12 or round 9 inch. I used a new silicone round pan that worked really well. Bake 50 minutes at 350 degrees
