Ingredients You'll Need
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. lard
1 c. molasses
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. boiling water
3 c. flour
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten
raisins or chocolate chips
Directions
Blend sugar, lard and molasses. Add baking soda and boiling
water. Be
sure the cup is full of water after foam is
run into cake mixture.
To flour, add spices and salt, then
blend into rest of mixture. Add 2 beaten eggs, raisins or
chocolate
chips.
Bake for 30 minutes in 350 degrees oven (use 9 x 13-inch pan).
