This is wonderful. Make for Christmas morning every year. Worth the time and effort and really is not difficult at all!
Ingredients You'll Need
2 C milk
4 T Shortening
1 t salt
1 C Potato Flakes (I use Potato Buds)
3 eggs
1/2 C warm water
2 pkgs of yeast
4 1/2 to 6 C flour
1 pint of whipping cream
small amount of sugar
cinnamon and sugar mixed
Directions
Bring to Boil:
2 C milk
4 T Shortening
1 t salt
1 C Potato Flakes (I use Potato Buds)
Set off to cool.
Beat well 3 eggs.
In 1/2 C warm water dissolve 2 pkgs of yeast. When mixture has cooled, combine eggs and yeast with milk mixture in large bowl.
Start adding flour until you get a good kneadable dough (about 4 ½ to 6 C)
Knead 10 minutes, let rise 2 hours.
Punch down.
Put dough into 2 – 9 X 13 cake pans and let rise 1 1/2 hours. Take finger and punch holes in dough. (I use my finger joint just up from the knuckle.)
Take 1 pint of whipping cream; add small amount of sugar and fill holes with the cream.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixed.
Bake at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes.
