Why I Love This Recipe

I found this receipe in the cookbook from my home town Humansville, Mo. I started making these as a treat and with 9 grandchildren and some that are nearly grown it has been well tested. I have made double batches of these and they disappear fast. I have always loved to cook. Hope you enjoy these as much as my friends and family do.

Ingredients You'll Need

1 cup of pumpkin 1 tsp. soda
1 cup of sugar 1 tsp baking powder
1cup shortening 1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp. nutmeg
2cups flour 1 egg
dash of salt 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cups nuts if desired

Directions

Combine pumpkin, sugar, shortening, and vanilla. Sift together the dry ingredients and add to the first mixture, add eggs and chocolate chips and mix well. Drop from a spoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven for 10 min makes 3 dozen. Lift with spatula as very tender when hot.
