Stuffed Cabbage Soup

Why I Love This Recipe
I have created this soup due to lack of time one day of rolling out the stuffed cabbages that my people love so well. This is the soup that is requested of me when a gathering occurs, such as our annual January Soup and Game Night with friends and family. Hope you enjoy it.
Ingredients You'll Need
1 small cabbage, chopped
1 1/2 pounds ground beef (or turkey)
1 large onion, chopped
2 C cooked rice
Large can stewed tomatoes
Large can V-8 juice
2 t salt, or more to taste
1/2 t pepper
2 t sage
2 t poultry seasoning
2 t chili powder
2 t crushed basil
Directions
In large stock pot, brown ground meat with onion. Drain fat. Add all other ingredients, (except rice) and simmer, covered, until cabbage is tender. Add rice and simmer until all flavors blend. You may add more spice to taste, and thin out with water or additional V-8 if desired. This is a very hearty meal.
