Sweet And Sour Meatballs

Why I Love This Recipe
I've been cooking this for years. It was one of the first meals I started making when I got married. This recipe came from the Betty Crocker Cookbook that I purchased some 20 plus years ago. I remember my mom making Sweet & Sour Meatballs for dinner when I was a child so of course I was thrilled when I saw the recipe in my new cookbook.
Ingredients You'll Need
Meatballs:
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons finely chopped onions
1 tsp salt (or less if you prefer)
1/3 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 egg
Sweet and Sour Sauce:
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 can (13 1/4 oz) pineapple chunks
1/3 cup vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 small bell pepper, coarsely chopped (any or all colors)
Directions
Meatballs:
Mix ingredients; shape into twenty 1 1/2" balls. Cook over medium heat, turning occasionally, until brown, about 20 minutes.
Sweet and Sour Sauce:
Drain fat from skillet that meatballs were cooked in (you will want all the yummy meatball bits that are in the pan....they will add flavor). Mix brown sugar and cornstarch in skillet. Stir pineapple (with syrup), vinegar adn soy sauce. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly; reduce heat. Add meatballs. Cover; simmer, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes. Stir in green pepper. Cover; simmer until crisp-tender, 5 minutes.
Serve over rice and enjoy.
