Quick & Easy Sweet Italian Sausage
Submitted by: MidLife Road TripBorn and raised in New York, Italian food was a staple. So when I want to "travel back home" in my kitchen something Italian often comes to mind. Growing up in a traditional New York neighborhood somebody was always cooking something and at almost every block party would have some version of Italian Sausage. Here's something quick and easy that will travel well to your next block party pr picnic. Don't forget to save some leftovers, they make for a great Frittata the next day!
Teriyaki Turkey Sliders
Submitted by: MidLife Road TripA trip to the Hawaiian Islands inspired these fruity and flavorful turkey sliders. E ʻai ka-kou
Stamp you passport ~> Portuguese Hamburgers
Submitted by: Family FoodieSome of the best times we have are in the kitchen. Sometimes it's around the table sharing stories of our travels, sometimes it's at the stove cooking with friends. Our friend Isabel, the Family Foodie was born in Portugal and came to this country as a girl not even knowing the language. Not only did she master the language but has been able to combine her love of her homeland and passion for cooking in a new blog called Family Foodie. We spent an afternoon in the kitchen and the Portuguese Burger was born!
“Love Me Tender’loin’ Pork Tenderloin with carmelized onions and apples and oven baked Sweet Potato fries
Submitted by: MidLife Road TripWe are brand loyalists. When we find something we love we use it in every way possible. Intensity Academy's Chai Teriyaki is no exception. They are the first tea infused sauce company in the world. The smoothness of the organic tea balances the oriental and chipotle peppers. So good it is, we created this recipe around it.
Shrimp-n-Grits Alfredo with a kick
Submitted by: MidLife Road TripNow matter where the MidLife Road Trip travels to, Rick is bound and determined to try Shrimp and Grits. Born and raised in the south, he truly is a shrimp and grits devotee and has developed his recipe. Watch your waistline and grab the defibrillator this recipe isn't for the diet conscious.

Rick’s Barnyard Omelet
Rick's BIG on breakfast! He's always in search of the next great diner, greasy spoon or anyplace the smell of frying bacon leads him. NOTE: Keep your doors locked when frying bacon ;-) Here's a simple omeletFlavorful & Colorful Stuffed Peppers
Submitted by: MidLife Road TripRancho la Puerta in Tecate, Mexico was the inspiration behind this dish. The 'Ranch' has been there for 75 years on 3,000-acres and it offers world-class landscaped gardens, an organic farm and internationally known cooking school. Rancho La Puerta is more than a destination spa, it is a life changing experience. It inspired me to look at food differently like these peppers, I incorporated a rainbow of color ... like the Ranch encouraged us to do at every meal!
Egg Cream ... 3 ingredients = One delicious beverage
I'm not a soda drinker. Colas aren't my think. But, egg creams hold a special place in my heart. Growing up on Long Island everyone knew what an egg cream was. It wasn't until I went to Texas and ordered one (receiving a bowl of ice cream instead) that I realized the 'egg' cream' was a regional drink. It is my guilty childhood pleasure that I still enjoy today!Mama Mia ... Lentils Italian Style
Submitted by: MidLife Road TripWe recently took a trip out to California. We stopped at a restaurant called Pea Soup Andersen’s. They have been in the business of dishing up their homemade pea soup for over 85 years! That's a lot of soup. As much as we love Pea Soup, we wouldn't want to compete with Anderson's so here's our recipe for Lentil Soup with a touch of Italian.
Chicken Tortilla Soup a la Ricardo
Submitted by: MidLife Road TripRick is the Foursquare Mayor of his local Mexican restaurant. That should give you a little indication just how much he loves Mexican food. A great and healthy way to enjoy the flavor of Mexico is with Chicken Toritilla Soup.
Yogurt Parfait
Submitted by: MidLife Road TripWe see the inside of a lot of airports in our travels. Unfortunately they don't always offer healthy dining options. Nothing worse than sitting next to someone on a flight who has brought on a aromatic meal they picked up on the concourse on the way in. A yogurt parfait is a healthier less pungent alternative. Here's our recipe for a refreshingly simple yogurt parfait
MidLife "Blues" Steak Burger
Submitted by: MidLife Road TripIn our travels we eaten in many a fine steak house. One of our favorites is a perfectly grilled steak with blue cheese. We have changed this up a bit and put our MidLife twist on a steak house classic.
