This community cookbook was created as space for quarantined friends to post their recipes whilst in lockdown. During the lockdown, we have "unlocked" this cookbook so you can see all the recipes. We will be adding recipes to our cookbook throughout this time.

To our recipe submitters:

When adding a recipe it would be great if you could say a few words about the recipe and why you like it. If you want to share your experience of lockdown or quarantine then feel free to - ideally your recipes should be something you cooked during your lockdown. Also, if you can, include a picture!

Thanks for taking the time to do this folks, in my dream world this cookbook will give some comfort or at least be a positive distraction for isolated people around the world and, if we get enough recipes, it might raise a bit of money for Doctors Without Borders too. #Jiayou加油 #AndraTuttoBene

Cookbook Recipe
Nonna's Tomato Sauce
This recipe feels, smells and tastes like home. It is the core of most of my family's meals in Italy and has been passed down from generation to generation. I remember being five years old, standing on a stool and my nonna (grandma) teaching me to stir her tomato sauce with a wooden spoon. It's really simple, easy and extremely comforting. I'm currently working from home as per the UK government's instructions so having a yummy tomato sauce that is versatile and reminds me of those I love is comforting as well as helpful as a base for creative dishes. It's not resource intensive and makes the house smell divine.

Cookbook Recipe
Granny's Oaty Bars
I make these oaty bars regularly for my grandson. Because of this sodding virus I am going to have self isolate for however long I can bear it. I will miss him dreadfully. I made these oaty bars yesterday as a bye-bye present for him. Submitted by: "Jeannie Mackie"

Cookbook Recipe
James' Thai Soup
Great recipe when you are feeling crap as it doesn't involve a lot of prep or time and it freezes well too. You can substitute out almost anything you are missing. Submitted by: "James Ball"

Cookbook Recipe
Spicy Butternut Squash and Chickpea Couscous
My mother has been making this recipe since I was a little girl. It's an easy recipe which uses mostly store cupboard ingredients and is great when you fancy something tasty and comforting. Submitted by: "Quarantined Folk (ElenaEgawhary)"

Cookbook Recipe
Pelau (from Trinidad and Tobago)
This recipe is a quintessential Trinidadian meal. It is fast and easy to make. It is very customizable. Use most meats except, fish or lamb or goat. But beef cubes, pork cubes, salted meats and chicken are usually used. If you can't find pigeon peas... leave it out. There's really no wrong way to make pelau. Submitted by: "Timothy"

Cookbook Recipe
Parmigiagna
This is a mother-daughter invention which we like more than lasagne. It makes a delicious meat-free meal and reminds us of home. Submitted by: "Quarantined Folk (Quarantined Folk)"

Cookbook Recipe
French Apple Tarte
A lot less sugar than most cakes and plenty of fruit make this an almost guilt-free treat Submitted by: "Quarantined Folk (Quarantined Folk)"

Cookbook Recipe
Teita's Kibbeh Bil Sanieh (Baked Kibbeh)
This is not straightforward to make and took me a few tries until I got it right. It's very meatloaf like (sorry to the vegetarians) but reminds me of my Teita and sitting at the children's table in her kitchen. Submitted by: "Quarantined Folk (Quarantined Folk)"

Cookbook Recipe
Spicy Rhubarb and Apple Compote
Great for breakfast or as a quickie simple dessert Submitted by: "Quarantined Folk (Quarantined Folk)"

Cookbook Recipe
Beer Bread
If you want to do home bread baking but have spotted all the yeast etc is sold out (or don’t have much time), beer bread is very much worth a go and is CRAZILY easy Submitted by: "Quarantined Folk (Quarantined Folk)"

Cookbook Recipe
James' Soda Bread
Everyone bothering with sourdough for bread because there’s no yeast. It’s fine if you’re into it, but for everyone else it’s two weeks’ work for your first half decent loaf. What you want is soda bread. Five mins prep, and you can eat it within an hour of starting. Submitted by: "Quarantined Folk (Quarantined Folk)"

Cookbook Recipe
Swedish meatballs
This makes about 50-60 meatballs - you can also half the recipe if you want to make a smaller batch. Submitted by: "Helena Bengtsson"

Thank you for your interest in Quarantined Folk's cookbook and for helping support the BakeSpace community of independent cookbook authors!

Here’s some quick information regarding how our cookbook platform works, along with a few tips for making the most of cookbooks you add to your library.

What is the Cookbook Café Platform?

Cookbook Café is our one-of-a-kind cookbook publisher, marketplace and reader. It empowers everyone to create, market and distribute a cookbook as both a web-based eBook and an iPad app. It also makes it incredibly easy for home cooks to discover and use amazing grassroots cookbooks they won't find anywhere else. Since 2012, we've published thousands of cookbooks authored by home chefs, nonprofit organizations, clubs, brands, etc. Our goal is to democratize cookbook publishing and make it easy to build an online library of amazing grassroots cookbooks.

How do I "download" a cookbook?

You don't need to "download" cookbooks or deal with any files. All of the cookbooks you select (free and paid) using Cookbook Café become available to you automatically on any device (computer, tablet or smartphone) whenever you’re logged-in to your free BakeSpace account.

When you see a cookbook you like, simply click the green "Get it Now" button. If you're not logged in to BakeSpace, you'll be asked to login (or join) so the cookbook can be added to your cookbook library. Once in your library, you can access the cookbook anytime, anywhere via BakeSpace.com, as well as our Cookbook Café iPad app.

While you're checking out cookbooks, also take some time to visit other parts of the delicious BakeSpace.com community where you can swap recipes and connect with others who share your passion for food and the culinary lifestyle.

Get ready to enjoy a uniquely smart and social cookbook experience!

Once a cookbook is added to your BakeSpace library, our proprietary recipe indexing technology makes it easy for you to find any specific recipe across all of your cookbooks… so there's no need to remember which cookbook contains that perfect recipe. In addition, you can connect directly with each cookbook author, leave comments/reviews and even ask questions about recipe substitutions, history, etc.
